The National Hemophilia Foundation Has a New Name
Posted: August 21, 2023.
In 1948, the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) got its start as simply “The Hemophilia Foundation.” In 1956, the foundation formally incorporated into what is known today as – the National Hemophilia Foundation. At the 75th Annual Bleeding Disorders Conference in August of 2023, NHF announced they were changing their name to the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation (NBDF).
Although hemophilia remains a major focus of the organization, their new name ensures that the organization and the community as a whole is inclusive of all people living with hemophilia, VWD and all rare and ultra-rare deficiencies.
The National Bleeding Disorders Foundation can still be found at hemophilia.org.
