Best Bloody Mary Competition





The New England Hemophilia Association and Rhode Island Food Fights held their inaugural “Providence’s Best Bloody Mary” event on Sunday, May 20 at the Providence Arcade in downtown Providence. The Rosendale won first place by popular vote in an intense competition among nine local bars. Troop  won the award of best bloody mary garnish.


The event was a tremendous success, with tickets sold out days before the event. More than 320 people tried samples from The Black Sheep,  The Grange,  Murphys Providence, New Harvest, Rogue Island Kitchen and Bar, Troop,  The Rosendale Providence,  The Salted Slate, and  Wara Wara Restaurant.


Competing bartenders were invited to compete for free and granted a table at the event where they created their unique bloody mary concoctions with their own mix, spices, and garnishes. All competitors were provided with vodka from event partner Tito’s Handmade Vodka. The event raised over $8,000 for the the New England Hemophilia Association.


The Rosendale was the winner of the vote for Best Bloody and walked out of the event with a trophy and bragging rights for 2018 as the maker of Providence’s Best Bloody Mary. The Rosendale’s bloody mary is a pineapple mango habanero with a candied bacon rim, celery, blue cheese stuffed olives, bacon, and habanero pepper.


Trrop was the winner for for Best Garnish with a crispy duck wonton, yuzu and Asian pear relish and micro cilantro.
